Yep, the lights are back on in the study and in the bathroom! What I had feared would be a three-day job requiring extensive replacements of wires, circuits, etc. took all of twenty minutes. Turns out one of the wires was loose. You see, in every light fixture, there's two wires: one that draws power, and the other that shoots it back. Well, the feeder wire was loose, so the lights weren't drawing enough power to keep them lit, on account of the wire being loose upstairs in the attic. So Chuck the electrician tightened it up and replaced the box for the light switch in the study (since it was also loose). Back in business!
