Okaaayyyy..... I seem to have figured out what was going on with my computer and the Tripod Site editor: It seems my spyware killer was reading the site as spyware, so it was trying to block the pages loading, and that caused a pile-up. Well, I disabled the blocker on the spyware killer, and that seems to have solved the problem: I was over editing one of my small sites associated with the "Rowan at Rennes" "A.I." RPG campaign I've been running with Laurie, and the comp gave me no trouble at all... I thought maybe it was the Tripod site, but I was tinkering with my site just a bit in Lowell the other day and I had utterly no trouble at all. So I retraced my steps and I realized the trouble with the site editor freezing started just after I ennabled some gadget on the spyware killer which would block certain pages. Granted, this weakens security on my comp a little bit, but I had to make some kind of comprimise, or else I wouldn't be able to work on my site from the privacy of my home.
